Berkeley in Japan I: The Inaugural Berkeley-Todai Forum

On Tuesday, November 11th, 2008, UC Berkeley and the University of Tokyo presented the inaugural Berkeley in Japan Forum, "Hybrid Japan, Hybrid California: Global Engagement in the 21st Century" at the University of Tokyo in Japan. UC Berkeley Chancellor Robert Birgeneau and Tokyo University President Hiroshi Komiyama lead off a series of dialogues on the hybridization of Japanese culture and the role of Japan on the global stage in the 21st Century. Distinguished professors from the two top public universities in the U.S. and Japan discussed topics ranging from environmental issues, multiculturalism, the role of religion in public life, and U.S.-Japan relations.
