We are pleased to announce the appointment of our sixth Shinjo Ito Post-Doctoral Fellow, Erez Joskovich. He is currently working on a book about the development of lay Zen practice from Song China to modern Japan. In addition, he studies the place of rituals in the Japanese Rinzai tradition. Particularly, he seeks to understand how Zen practitioners make sense of their highly liturgical practice in light of their traditionís iconoclastic rhetoric. He will teach an introductory course to Japanese Buddhism in the Spring semester.

Michaela Mross, our previous Fellow, accepted a position at Stanford Universityís Department of Religious Studies and Ho Center for Buddhist Studies as an Assistant Professor.
