2016 Summer Graduate Student Conference in Korean Studies at Seoul National University

Call for Proposals

graduate students with a research focus on Korea will be selected to travel to Korea in early June to present a paper and receive feedback from faculty and fellow graduate students at Seoul National University. Students will be expected to complete a working paper before the conference. All continuing graduate students are welcome to apply, but preference will be given to advanced doctoral candidates (ABD). This opportunity is possible thanks to generous support from the Academy of Korean Studies.

Date and Location: June 3, 2016 at Seoul National University

Support: Participants will receive a stipend of $2,000 to cover roundtrip airfare, meals and hotel costs.

Applicants should submit the following materials as a single PDF document by email to the Center for Korean Studies, (cks@berkeley.edu) by March 1, 2016:

  1. Title and brief abstract (max 300 words) of the paper to be presented
  2. A detailed summary of the paper to be presented and how it fits in with your larger research agenda (max 2 pages). Please also indicate at what stage of graduate study you are in.
  3. A current curriculum vitae
