Research Interests: Noam's research focuses on the political economy and economic history of educational institutions, legal institutions, labor markets, and social interactions. He has studied the introduction of Western educational institutions in 19th century China, the evolution of social mobility in China across the 20th century, and the impact of curriculum reform on Chinese students' attitudes in the 21st century.
