Academic Year Program
Students are admitted to this program for full-time study only. The program runs from early to mid September through late May or early June, and students spend approximately twenty hours per week in class.
The Academic-Year Program is divided into two semesters, each consisting of two eight-week modules. Students take the IUP Placement Exam upon entering the Program. Students who fall within the typical IUP range generally have four hours of class daily during the first module. The average class arrangement is one daily individual class and the three hours of small group classes. The actual class arrangement may vary slightly depending upon individual circumstances.
In subsequent modules, as the students in the Academic Year Program progress, contact hours may be reduced somewhat as students advance into higher levels where the proportion of out-of-class preparation time may rise and more individual attention may be warranted.
