The Institute of East Asian Studies is very pleased to announce a new scholarship opportunity for UCB undergraduates with an interest in Chinese language study, the Anne H. Scott Scholarship in Chinese Studies. The scholarship is made possible by a generous gift of Hugh A. Scott in honor of the memory of his late wife, Anne H. Scott (née Anne Hanrahan) to remember her work in, and dedication to, Chinese studies – in particular Chinese history and the translation of historiography. The scholarship is intended to assist students who have studied the Chinese language who wish to use their language training to study Chinese history or culture, or to conduct non-scientific translation work. The 2006 inaugural award is valued at $3,000.
