I study premodern Japanese literature, and conferences are an important way for me to connect with colleagues in my subfield at other institutions. During the pandemic, continuing to be able to attend and present at conferences online has been an inspiration that I have much appreciated. This year I have had the chance to present my research at the Modern Language Association Conference, and will be organizing a panel at the Association of Asian Studies Conference. Thanks to support from CJS, I did not have to worry about the various registration costs associated with these conferences at a time when budgets are tight due to the pandemic.
