PKU Summer Program Route 1

Route One: From June 26 to July 10, 2025, the first cohort will visit Beijing, Suzhou (in Jiangsu Province), Hangzhou (in Zhejiang Province), and Shanghai

Participants should plan to arrive at PKU on June 26, 2025.

Program Highlights

Beijing

  • Lectures by PKU professors on China’s development and globalization.

  • Visit the Great Wall, the Palace Museum, and state-owned enterprises.

Suzhou, Jiangsu Province

  • Visit the Grand Canal of China, the longest canal in the world, to explore the dynamic relationship between inland waterway transport and economic development at this UNESCO World Heritage site.

  • Visit high-tech corporations in Suzhou Industrial Park and local private enterprises to learn about the Sunan Model and its efforts to promote local rural industrialization.

  • Experience Chinese silk culture in Suzhou, widely regarded as the home of Chinese silk or the silk capital of China.

Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province

  • Visit West Lake, the Xiling Seal Art Society, and the China Sigillography.

  • Museum to experience China’s traditional stone seal engraving culture and its UNESCO intangible cultural heritage.

  • Take a city walk to explore traditional tea culture and the emerging field of live-streaming e-commerce.

  • Visit the Liangzhu Museum to delve into the origins of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.

  • Explore rapidly growing corporations in logistics, kitchen appliances, digital management, and the video game industry to understand China’s digital economy.

  • Tour the venues for the G20 Summit and Asian Games, and learn about the stories surrounding the 19th Asian Games.

  • Visit the smart factory of Zeeker, the newest luxury electric vehicle brand from Geely Holding Group, and discover insights into China's automotive modernization and strategic industrial policy.

Shanghai

  • Visit Yangshan Deep-Water Port to explore the blueprint of China’s port economy at the world’s busiest container port.
