Xingjian Zhang is a PhD student in the Group in Buddhist Studies at UC Berkeley. He received a B.A. in World History and Foreign Languages (Archaeology track) from Peking University in 2022 and an M.A. in Religion and Philosophy in Asia from LMU Munich in 2025. He is primarily interested in the history and literature of Tibetan Buddhist traditions in the 11th–13th centuries, with a particular focus on their transmission into the Tangut State (Xixia).
