IEAS Visiting Scholar Program

About the Program

The Institute of East Asian Studies hosts visiting scholars from around the world who wish to conduct cross-border research at UC Berkeley in their field of study. Visiting scholars are chosen on the strength of their research projects and the ability of the faculty or library on the Berkeley campus to meet their research needs. Scholars generally remain at Berkeley for six months to two years, conduct research independently, and are expected to complete the project they originally proposed. Scholars are also expected to participate regularly in the Institute's scholarly life and academic programs, and are granted basic access to campus resources to fulfill research objectives.

Please read thoroughly all aspects of the application procedure If you have any questions about the program, application process, etc. please contact the IEAS Business Manager, Daniel Ureste, at dureste@berkeley.edu (link sends e-mail) (link sends e-mail)
