Local Information and Logistics

The symposium is free and open to the public; we warmly invite all interested individuals to attend. Do note that you must register for each day separately if you would like to attend on both days. Since seats are limited, we encourage you to cancel your registration if your plans change and you will no longer be able to join us. We know that attending for the full day may be difficult due to schedule constraints, and you are welcome to join as you are available. We will also have registration available on-site on September 18-19. Please register here for Day 1 and here for Day 2.

TRANSPORTATION

From SFO (San Francisco International Airport), the easiest way to get to Berkeley is with the Bay Area Rapid Transit system (BART). You will need a train to Pittsburg/Bay Point or Concord (yellow line), getting off at Downtown Berkeley ($10.30). The station is on the western edge of campus, and within walking distance from the hotels listed below. You can also use Uber or Lyft to get from SFO to Berkeley.

CONFERENCE VENUE

The conference will be held at the Banatao Auditorium, at 330 Sutardja Dai Hall (view map).

HOTELS

Several hotels that are within walking distance of the conference are recommended. The Berkeley City Club, the Hotel Shattuck Plaza, the Graduate by Hilton, and the Marriott Residence Inn are at the higher end, whereas the Nash Hotel and the Signature Inn are more affordable.

PARKING

For guests staying at Hotel Shattuck Plaza, the hotel offers valet parking for $45 per night. If you prefer to self park, there are public parking garages nearby that charge overnight fees, along with street parking that is available on a first come, first served basis.

For other hotels, please contact the hotel directly about parking options.

If you are joining the conference on a daily basis and are looking for nearby parking options, please see the campus website with parking information.

Here is a link to the campus parking map. Do note that ONLY lots with a circle containing the letter P offer paid public parking.
