Donations to CKS support a variety of programs. Throughout the year, we invite scholars, artists, and politicians from around the world to present their work in public lectures. We host more than a dozen Visiting Scholars from Korea. In coordination with Professor Young-Min Kwon, we host Literature in Translation events to promote and advance quality translation of Korean literature into English. We provide research funding to faculty and graduate students interested Korea-related topics.
We would love to do even more! Gifts to CKS can help increase our ability to support doctoral research, undergraduate student experiences, and faculty scholarship. Gifts can also help us bring Korean artists and performers to campus, maintain lively connections between scholars in Korea and those here at Berkeley, and support the establishment of a Korean major in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures.
CKS also partners with the other centers within the Institute of East Asian Studies on an annual basis to raise funds specifically to support grants and fellowships for students in Korean Studies at UC Berkeley.
